History of Fire Station 39
Station 39 in 1955 was built on a barren wasteland at Pickfair and Kelley Streets. One could stand at the back door of this new station and look east as far as he could see. This station, shortly after opening, was marred with a tragedy of three firefighters being severely burned at an oil pit fire. This station was last extensively renovation in FY 1997 and had minor renovations in FY 2006.
