History - Fire Station 46 was opened in 1956, replacing the Old Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Department at the corner of Corinth and Stassen.In 1976 a new station was built at the corner of Corder and Scott. On Feb. 19, 2006, firefighters dedicated a memorial at the station in celebration of Captain Grady Burke who died in the line of duty on Feb. 19, 2005 and was assigned to Fire Station 46.
This Station was last renovation in FY 1995 and is currently, as of January 2008, undergoing minor renovations.
