More than 300 attend Annual Firefighters' Memorial

More than 300 family, friends and members of the department attended the Annual Houston Firefighters' Memorial, Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the Houston Firefighters' Memorial Garden, 4225 Interwood N. Parkway off JFK Blvd.

This annual ceremony honors not only those members who gave their lives in the line of duty, but also every retired and active firefighter who is gone but not forgotten.

This year's quest speakers included: Fire Chief Phil Boriskie, Congressman Gene Green, Houston Firefighters' Relief & Retirement Fund Chairman Jimmie L. Gill, Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association, Local 341 President Roland Chavez, Hispanic Fire Fighters Caucus, Local 341 Chairman Richard Gomez, Houston Black Professional Firefighters Association President Otis Jordan, and Fire Museum Director Emily Ponte.
