Structure
In the fall of 1999 the Houston HIV Prevention Community Planning Group (HHPCPG) determined the best way to address its responsibility to adequately develop a prevention interventions plan was to organize itself into operational committees, each responsible for developing an aspect of the CPG's task.

The committees are:

  • Community and Member Relations Committee - responsible for discharging the duties of the CPG with respect to matters concerning membership, conflict of interest, training needs, policy and procedures, etc.
  • Epidemiology Committee - responsible for reviewing epidemiological profiles, providing guidance for the updated profile, developing a prioritized list of behavioral and prevalence studies, and developing a matrix or formula for priority setting that will identify priority populations.
  • Prevention Intervention Committee - responsible for developing a list of interventinos that address the needs and issues of the priority populations as set forth by the Epidemiology Commitee.
  • Quality Assurance Committee - responsible for assurng that HIV prevention activities reflect the populationsand interventions as outliend in the most current Comprehensive Plan.
  • Resource and Needs Committee - responsible for offering guidance about the effectivenss and suggested uses of interventions within various risk groups. Responsible for conducting a Community Service Assessment (CSA) that consists of a needs assessment and resource inventory and gaps analysis to aid in making recommendations for available HIV prevention resources
