Provides safety and health education
courses, performs preventative screenings in blood pressure,
vision and hearing to senior citizens and children, meets a
variety of community needs either through direct services or
collaborative efforts with other social service agencies. Help
people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
Community Doula Program

Hours of Service: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday
Provides training and support
to young mothers in prenatal intrapartum and postpartum to birthing
teens (bilingual). Offers support during pregnancy, accompaniment
to the hospital the day of delivery, and assistance for good
breastfeeding. Also, on the first Friday of each month a H.C.H.D.
Gold Card outreach worker in conjunction with Doula Program
help needed mothers apply for the Gold Card.

Provides services to all people
in the community. A resource center that identifies and access
an individual’s needs and provides a list of applicable
resources, promote the efficient and effective use of all resources
available.

Provides rehabilitative treatment
and assistance to those suffering injury, chronic disease and
demised quality of life.

Provide on the ground services
and accessibility to residents of District I, service residents
on city-related complaints, answer questions regarding the City
of Houston and District I, and provide easier access to Council
Member Alvarado’s office staff.

Provides assistance to low income
families, services include; after and back to school programs,
bus tokens, case management, clothes closet, community learning
center, employment skills program, food pantry, head start program,
housing counseling, prescription voucher program, rental/mortgage
assistance, senior services, transportation program and youth
services.

Provide classes in art, drama
and music, group counseling. Help to create a safe productive
environment for all people to meet, ranging from the elderly
to youth at risk, low-income families, and anyone else in need
of charitable assistance and services.
Coordinate responses and resolutions
to community complaints through appropriate city departments
and other agencies. Coordinate community involvement for voluntary
compliance on dangerous buildings, weeded lots, abandoned vehicles
and criminal activity. Handle requests for city services, individual
complaints/referrals and field investigations. Promote neighborhood
revitalization efforts through community outreach activities.

Provides services for children
two to five years of age. Services are available to AFDC and
SSI recipients, income eligible, and handicapped children of
income eligible families.
Provides educational classes,
recreational fitness program, games, trips, tours and weekday
meals are available to all senior citizens.

Provides GED/ESL classes, music
lessons, computer classes and math tutoring. Also, provides
remedial classes in preparation for the TASP Test, ABE tutoring,
career counseling and school referral service, information and
referral on scholarship and financial aid, employment counseling,
job development and job placement services.
