The Third Ward Multi-Service Center is located in a community near Texas Southern University. The center opened its doors in 2002. Agencies that are housed within the center provide services to the community. The auditorium and conference rooms are available to the public for community gatherings, meetings, conferences and productions seven days a week. Provides information and assistance to residents regarding City services, handles complaints and makes referrals to appropriate City departments.

Gulf Coast Head Start

Head Start is a Federal program for preschool children from low-income families. The Head Start program is operated by local non-profit organizations in almost every county in the country. Children who attend Head Start participate in a variety of educational activities. They also receive free medical and dental care, have healthy meals and snacks and enjoy playing indoors and outdoors in a safe setting.

The health center provides preventive health services, maternity, family planning and immunizations to the Third Ward community.

Provides low income residents with supporting services including housing counseling, senior services, youth services, food pantry, after-school activities, Head Start, bus tokens, case management, school uniform/supplies vouchers, clothes closet and employment skills.

Provides a Computer Access Center to be the hub for the Information and Referral Services in the community. For assistance the center has an on-site coordination staff.

U.S. Dream Academy Learning Center

Through aggressive and innovative academic enrichment and mentoring, the academy is working to build dreams of children with a family history of incarceration and those falling behind in school; and to provide the tools that they need to achieve their dreams.
