Smallpox Information for Local Hospitals

Phase 1 of the National Smallpox Vaccination Program

The Houston Department of Health and Human Services, Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services and the American Red Cross have joined together to provide vaccinations under Phase 1 of the National Smallpox Vaccination Program. The local effort is called the Houston Harris County Smallpox Vaccination Program. One of our responsibilities is to provide credible information to the public and other community stakeholders. In that regard, we are forwarding the following:

  • Link to CDC for Smallpox Pre-Vaccination Information Packet

  • Administration Update on Section 304 Liability Protections

  • Part 1, Clinical Module

Please understand that the information we are providing may change. You may expect to receive subsequent clinical modules in the coming weeks.

The CDC packet consists of materials to be printed and distributed to prospective vaccines to help them decide whether to receive the vaccination.
