The Hobby Center is Houston's newest downtown performing arts center. Located across from City Hall and Tranquillity Park, The Hobby Center opened to the public in May 2002.
The Children's Museum is located in the Houston Museum District, between downtown and Reliant Park.
Mayor White participated in the annual Houston Police Department Bike Ride, benefitting the Leukemia Society, on June 22, 2004. More photos are available at the Mayor's Photo Gallery.
The art exhibit Coexistence travelled to Houston, at the City Hall Reflection Pond, between April 7 and May 1, 2005. The exhibit has traveled to more than 20 cities throughout the world.
Houston was the first word spoken from the moon. The Johnson Space Center (JSC) is located in the Clear Lake area, about 25 miles south/southeast of downtown Houston, via Interstate 45 South, NASA Road 1 exit.
