NEW AFFORDABLE HOUSING APPLICATION, GUIDELINES, AND CHECKLIST FOR AFFORDABLE RENTAL HOUSING PROPOSALS

Dec. 1, 2005 -- Milton Wilson Jr., Director of Housing and Community Development, unveiled today the new Affordable Housing Application, Guidelines, and Checklist for affordable rental housing proposals. The new application replaces the previous open-ended Request for Proposals with a closed-ended application process that will provide for prompt, fair, and thorough project review. Projects will be evaluated against clear and standardized criteria and scored competitively.

The new application system was developed with input from a diverse cross-section of housing stakeholders. Representatives of community housing development organizations (CHDOs), community activists, builders, real estate developers, neighborhood organizations, and other interested individuals all participated in the development of these new policies.

The first Application Period opens December 1, 2005 and closes February 1, 2006.

All information needed to apply for funding in support of construction or rehabilitation of affordable rental housing is now posted on a new section of this website. Please click the "Affordable Housing" brick to locate this information. In addition, HCD will provide opportunities for potential applicants to attend workshops explaining the new guidelines, criteria, and process. Workshops will be held in early January. Dates will be announced.
