HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR MILTON WILSON APPOINTS HENRY L. HADNOT ASSISTANT DIRECTOR Thirty-Six Year HUD Veteran Brings Wealth of Experience to City of Houston
September 7, 2006 -- The City of Houston's Housing and Community Development Department (HCDD) Director Milton Wilson announced today that Henry L. Hadnot, 58, has been named Assistant Director for Single Family Housing and Inspection Services. In this role, Hadnot will head up the City's single-family home repair and down payment assistance programs.
“We're fortunate to have someone of Henry's experience willing to join the City of Houston and help us reach our goal of significantly and efficiently expanding affordable housing for Houston. He will be a key member of our team,” said Director Wilson.
Hadnot said his goal is to significantly increase the output of the single-family home repair program and continue to build on the success of the new down payment assistance program, which was restarted in late 2005. In the next 120 days Hadnot expects to have more than 90 homes repaired or rebuild.
Prior to joining the City of Houston, Hadnot, a 36-year U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) veteran with the Houston Field Office, served in various senior management positions and has extensive knowledge of housing programs including single-family, multi-family, public housing, elderly housing, handicap housing and transitional housing. He also has experience in construction activities ranging from soils investigation through construction completion.
In 1994, Hadnot was honored as the Federal Employee of the Year (supervisory) by the Houston area Federal Business Association.
Hadnot is a native Texan and a graduate of Prairie View A&M University (B.S. 1970). In addition, he is a certified teacher and has received management and community first training at Harvard University and DePaul University. Hadnot has two daughters and is expecting his first grandchild.
