This facility received an $800,000 dollar Community Development Block grant from the City of Houston's Housing and Community Development Department for a Neighborhood Facility Renovation. The ceremony consisted of a brief program.
Renovations will comply with Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations and include new features such as: electrical, plumbing, air conditioning and energy efficient features. The New Day Habilitation Center will serve over 100 individuals with physical and developmental disabilities. The new Center will have three large classrooms, areas for outdoor activities, an extra large project and vocational area, a quiet room, a sensory room, nurse's station, reception and administration areas.
"This new state of the art facility will help better serve the clients of Village Learning Center" said Donald Sampley. "The City is pleased to partner in this endeavor to enhance the services provided by such a viable program". The proposed construction completion date is September, 2007.
