HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PERSONS WITH AIDS (HOPWA)

The HOPWA Program provides multifamily housing and related supportive services to low and moderate income families throughout the Houston Eligible Metropolitan Statistical Area (EMSA) for persons who are HIV positive and their families. Grants are provided to eligible non-profit organizations for acquisition, rehabilitation or conversion, new construction, supportive services associated with housing, rent, mortgage and utility assistance, and program administration. HOPWA supportive services may include activities such as counseling, case management, food preparation, housekeeping, and transportation.

The service area includes Harris, Montgomery, Liberty, Chambers, Waller, Fort Bend Counties, Austin, Brazoria, Galveston and San Jacinto. Proposals are accepted through a Request For Proposals (RFP) process.
