Tuesday, November 15, 2005 - Mr. Floyd Newsum, Artist unveiled the "Ladder of Hope" as part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Art in Public Places Program. The goal of the program is to provide permanent artwork accessible to the general public throughout the city. The artist, Mr. Newsum is an art professor at the University of Houston - Downtown and is a graduate of Temple University and Tyler School of Art.
The "Ladder of Hope" reflects the treasured importance of African-American family values.
