MAYOR'S YOUTH COUNCIL
The mission of the Mayor's Youth Council is to provide high school students the opportunity to develop leadership and citizenship skills while learning about city government. Members develop a sense of personal growth and achievement, a profound understanding of city departments and work year-round to establish a rapport with civic/community leaders and the citizens of Houston , as well as their respective elected officials.

The Mayor's Youth Council meets several times a month. The regular Council meeting is held in the City Council Annex Chambers, located in Downtown Houston. Meetings usually begin at approximately 6:30 p.m. All meetings are open to the general public and are televised by HTV, the city's municipal channel. The planning meeting is usually held in the morning, 10 am to noon, on the first Saturday of the month to discuss and review upcoming activities and tasks (locations will vary). Town Hall meetings, which are topic related, are held at various high schools throughout the city once a month in the evening. There are also opportunities to participate in community service activities a few times each month.
