Mayor Bill White has renewed the Mayor’s Youth Council (MYC) started in 1998. The mission of the MYC provides high school students the opportunity to develop leadership and citizenship skills while learning about city government. The MYC is modeled after the elected City Council with a Chair, City Secretary, At-Large and District Council Members. There are also Senior Aide positions to support the work of the council.

Mayor Bill White is proud to announce the formation of the Mayor's Teen Task Force (MTTF), organized to motivate teens to get involved with community service efforts in Houston. The MTTF was the brainchild of Bellaire High School junior, Brad Ginsburg, who wrote the mayor last year with this recommendation.
Brad says, "The MTTF motivates kids and young adults to get involved with their neighborhoods and communities throughout the year. It also helps keep them busy by doing positive things and staying out of trouble. We plan to schedule city-sponsored projects as well as participate in other community projects throughout the year."
