I consider myself a patient and discerning member of the Mayor’s Youth Council. I sometimes get stressed under pressure but I only let that make me work harder. I usually try to wait until my ideas are fully developed before I express them. This way, I can try to compromise.
I find local government a very key part of democracy in the United States today. Many teenagers in the City of Houston deserve to be represented. Through the Mayor’s Youth Council, we can represent the youth of the City of Houston, whom we go to school with five days of the week.
This past summer, I lived for five weeks in Berlin, Germany with my cousin who lives there. During my stay, I was able to witness the issues and concerns that are not only affecting the youth of Berlin and Houston, but the global youth around the world. This foreign perspective has helped me prioritize the issues of youth that I see in Houston.
