CHAIRPERSON
  • Serve as a primary representative of the Mayor’s Youth Council (MYC)

  • Preside as head over all official MYC meetings

  • Serve as a member of the Executive Committee

  • Place new items on the regular meeting agenda (if needed)

  • Appoint members for sub-committees

  • Form and direct subcommittees at the counsel and regulation of the entire MYC

CITY SECRETARY

  • Develop and maintain agenda for each MYC meeting

  • Announce agenda items during MYC meeting

  • Record all minutes of MYC meetings

  • File minutes for the MYC with the Mayor’s Office of Volunteer Initiatives

  • Provide all other duties as necessary

CHIEF OF STAFF

  • Provide support to Chairperson and City Secretary

  • Build and manage relationships with key contacts

  • Play a central role in the leadership team of the Mayor’s Youth Council

  • Become familiar with the duties of all the appointed Youth Council Members

  • Will preside in place of the Chairperson in case of absence.

Note: To be considered for selection as Chairperson, Chief of Staff or City Secretary, a member must have served at least one (1) full year on the MYC.

COUNCIL MEMBER

  • Represent position on MYC as assigned

  • Attend and be prepared for monthly MYC

  • Identify issues and concerns of youth in district represented or at-large

  • Plan and implement a Town Hall meeting for district represented

  • Communicate with other youth in district represented or at-large

  • Work with Senior Aide to provide responses to inquiries raised by youth in your district or at-large

SENIOR AIDE

  • Provide support to Council Members, either assigned permanently or temporarily during MYC meetings

  • Conduct research of inquiries or issues raised during MYC meetings

  • Liaison with the Mayor’s Teen Task Force on behalf of Council Member(s)

  • Provide all other duties as necessary
