Jeff Jefferson

Jeff epitomizes customer service by waking up early every day of the week to report the chemical conditions of the city’s 37 swimming pools.

Mr. Jefferson manages the Recreation and Wellness Division in the Parks and Recreation Department. This is the middle of summer, and summer is a busy time for Parks and Recreation.

Jeff epitomizes customer service by waking up early every day of the week to report the chemical conditions of the city’s 37 swimming pools. Each day thousands of Houstonians swim in those pools. Jeff and his team ensure that the pools are safe.

He also oversees the Summer Food Service Program – the second largest in the country – the Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark and various adult sports programs. He also serves as liaison between the city and several of its partners, including USA Swimming, The American Red Cross, and ACHIEVE, a triathlon camp for youth.

Jeff volunteers for the Feed the Children Association and USA Swimming. He also serves as vice-president of the local chapter of the National MBA Association.

He also led our efforts to become nationally certified by the Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies. Houston is the largest city to achieve this certification.

Because of all of his dedicated service – though I wondder how he finds the time – we present this BRAVO! certificate to Jeff Jefferson.
