Richard Gomez
Fire Department

When asked what was his proudest accomplishment, he said, "it was being able to give something back to the community."

Mr. Gomez has been a Houston firefighter since 1980. He is currently based at Station 94, home of the “Fast and the Furious.”

He has been the chairman of the Houston Hispanic Firefighters Caucus Local 341 for the last 12 years. Through his efforts, the caucus has acted as a voice for Hispanic firefighters while effectively supporting recruiting efforts in the Hispanic community.

Mr. Gomez has been the bellwether for community outreach programs. For years, Gomez led the caucus in sponsoring Back to School fundraisers to purchase school supplies for needy children. Under his leadership, the caucus participates in the annual Houston Hispanic Forum Job Fair, which reaches students in grades six to 12 in Harris County and 72 adjacent school districts. He also helped host an annual Mardi Gras Dance to benefit the Senior Citizen Christmas Food Baskets, and this past May helped sponsor the first Houston Fire Department recruiting Open House at the George R. Brown Convention Center, which attracted more than 1,000 attendees.

But know this about Mr. Gomez: When asked what was his proudest accomplishment, he said it was being able to give something back to the community.

We present this BRAVO! Certificate to Richard Gomez.
