Flora Garcia
Housing & Community Development

Her supervisors continually refer to her performance as “outstanding.”

FLORA is a housing counselor in the single-family production section. A truly great employee, her 21 years as a counselor and community liaison have been responsible for the training and administration of Housing’s personnel and resolving countless homeowner crises. Her supervisors continually refer to her performance as “outstanding.” What follows is but a partial list of her recognitions:

  • The City, Harris and Fort Bend Counties has presented Flora with a plaque for Outstanding Performance and Distinguished Service;
  • The Housing Department recognized her for – and here’s that word again – Outstanding Service and Dedication;
  • Letters of Recommendations, include:
    • Three from her department referring to her as “a team player” and “an exceptional employee”
    • Parks & Recreation referred to her as “a most valued asset for the city”
    • And there’ve been many letters from grateful citizens whom she’s helped over the years

During the two-months following Tropical Storm Allison, Flora assisted more than 1,200 families with obtaining shelter, food and clothing.

On weekends she volunteers for housing seminars, clean-up projects and non-federal home repairs.

We present this BRAVO! Award to Flora Garcia.
