Hiawatha Henry
Library

Her personal philosophy
is “everyone is someone’s brother or sister or child.”

Ms. Henry has been with the Library for the past nine years and is a senior assistant in central services and circulation. She has been recognized time and again by citizens for providing superior customer service. Her positive, proactive and popular team-building efforts have built exceptional internal relations among staff and supervisors. Ms. Henry has been called a “constant support to staff morale” by her supervisor.

When she sees a need, she tries to get everyone involved. Working at the downtown Central Library, Ms. Henry became acutely aware of the plight of the homeless and became an advocate working to provide assistance. Her personal philosophy is “everyone is someone’s brother or sister or child.” Ms. Henry initiated clothing and food drives for the Star of Hope Mission, encouraging library staff members to search their pantries. And when the temperature dropped, she arranged a coat and blanket drive that was so successful the delivery truck needed to make two trips to pick up all the items.

When Katrina and Rita evacuees needed help, Ms. Henry was quick to organize staff members to assist with donating much-needed items and devoted hours caring for children to relive weary parents.

She is among the city employees who donate 1% of their annual salary to the Combined Municipal Campaign.

We present this BRAVO! Certificate to Hiawatha Henry.
