During Hurricane Katrina, Ms. Hodgkins went to the Astrodome and spent 50 of the next 72 hours coordinating efforts to install telephones and provide data service support to HPD command posts in Reliant Park.

Terry Hodgkins is an administrator-supervisor in HPD’s telecommunications section at 1200 Travis Street. She is referred to as the “go-to person” on any issue dealing with telecommunications – and not just in HPD, but also throughout other city departments. She is also responsible for managing telecommunications wiring projects.  She is an expert in her field who has given countless hours above-and-beyond her job description.

Ms. Hodgkins joined HPD in June 1991 and has been recognized with 18 supervisory commendations, including a chief’s commendation from Chief Hurtt this past March; a chief’s commendation from Chief Sam Nuchia in 1993; an assistant chief’s commendation, and 15 supervisor’s commendations.

During Hurricane Katrina, Ms. Hodgkins, acting on her own accord, went to the Astrodome and spent 50 of the next 72 hours coordinated efforts to install telephones and provide data service support to HPD command posts in Reliant Park. Her efforts allowed effective communication to be established among HPD, METRO, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the DPS offices.

Being community minded, Ms. Hodgkins serves on the board of directors in the Imperial Oaks subdivision and volunteers at her church and the Oak Ridge High School.

Valued by her colleagues as one who always has a smile on her face even at the end of a long day … we present this BRAVO! Certificate to Ms. Terry Hodgkins.
