Ms. Johnson has been a valued Municipal Courts employee for almost 13 years. Her supervisor, Shirley Perry, describes her work ethic this way: “In a demanding court environment where resources are stretched thin, Sheila Johnson is always willing to stay late to get the job done without even being asked.”
A supervisor credits Ms. Johnson with exhibiting excellent customer service to citizens, judges, courtroom staff and defendants.
As a senior clerk in the documents-management division, Ms. Johnson is responsible for the daily jury docket preparation. She checks the dockets for the seven jury-courts, verifying that the approximate 300 cases per docket are available. That means locating at least 2,100 cases daily. And, in some instances, dockets have had as many as 500 cases.
Her meticulous attention to detail has proven especially important for jury dockets, where citizens are present to fulfill their civil duty. By ensuring cases are available, Ms. Johnson facilitates the jury process helping the court system fulfill one of the cornerstones of American judicial procedure.
She is active in the Combined Municipal Campaign and as one supervisor, Dianne Edwards, says of her, “the staff can always count on Ms. Johnson to lift the spirits of those around her and improve morale.”
After work, Ms. Johnson is a volunteer for “Necessity for Restoration,” where she collects and prepares food, clothing and other essential items for the homeless.
We proudly name Sheila Johnson as a Bravo Award recipient.
