Police officer Warren V. Jones of the public affairs division willingly takes on seemingly impossible projects, designs a plan of action and then follows through until the job is done. Over the years, Officer Jones’ supervisors and coworkers have cited him as an excellent example of what an HPD officer should be.

In one instance, an elderly couple died in a fire that destroyed their home. Because surviving family members didn’t have the money to demolish the burned home, they were in danger of losing the property.

Officer Jones convinced a demolition company, a trash removal company, and a master plumber to donate their time. He paid all the permit fees out of his pocket. Because of his help, the family kept the property, where they hope to construct a new home for the surviving daughter.

Even when he’s off duty, Officer Jones helps citizens. He volunteers at the Aldine Youth Center and purchases school clothing for one of the children he mentors. He maintains the yard for an elderly cancer survivor who isn’t financially able to hire someone. Officer Jones often donates his time and effort to assist the elderly with home repairs and renovations. On weekends, he takes his 17-year-old son to cut their lawns.

He also sponsors 20 kids each year through the Blue Santa Program and purchases gifts for underprivileged kids at Child Protective Services.

Officer Jones’ heart is as big as the community he serves. We proudly honor him with this Bravo Award.
