Dub McWhorter literally gives of himself to help people with serious health problems. |
William "Dub" McWhorter has distinguished himself as a city employee for 12 years, elevating the level of service for the tenants he serves. As a citizen, he literally gives of himself to help people with serious health problems.
When not at work for the city, Mr. McWhorter has arranged his life for 10 years around the selfless act of donating plasma and blood platelets that are badly needed in the trauma centers of Houston hospitals. As a “serial blood donor, he has donated about 70 gallons. Impossible to count are the lives his generous acts of love have saved.
At work, Mr. McWhorter is simply as fine a carpenter as you will ever find. He provides an unsurpassed example of the highly skilled craftsman who is quite capable of making a wonderful living in the private sector.
Yet because of his heartfelt desire to serve the public, he applies his skills as a city employee. He has received many thank-you notes, including one from Controller Sylvia R. Garcia, who said, “You have saved the Controller’s Office many times with your carpentry skills – from preparing floors to putting up shelves.”
For his superb work ethic and shinning example of the spirit of giving, we proudly call the name of William "Dub" McWhorter as we present the Bravo Award.
