For the past four years, Mr. Menard has investigated health and safety issues regarding commercial swimming pools as a member of the environmental health division.
His supervisors describe him as having a superior work ethic, always paying attention to detail with a professional attitude. He’s the one who is always willing to go out and handle complaint calls no matter how crowded his work schedule, and does so in a timely and professional manner.
Director Stephen Williams says Mr. Menard is the type of employee who lets citizens know that the city cares about them.
Mr. Menard is always willing to go the extra mile to get the job done. When a co-worker left the department, Mr. Menard took on the huge responsibility of conducting plan-checking for commercial swimming pools, though this was not his job classification. He took extra classes and became a certified pool operator. As a result, his section was able to continue their work without interruption.
Outside of his work, Mr. Menard volunteered as a presenter at the Texas Department of Health’s annual Swimming Pool Conference in January 2004. While there, he explained the Texas Code for residential and commercial swimming pools to pool operators and maintenance personnel from private companies, as well as municipal employees throughout Texas. In addition, he demonstrated the tedious plan-checking procedures for new pools in Texas.
Mr. Menard has been working on his master’s degree for the past two years and will be graduating with a Master of Science in Industrial Hygiene and Safety this May.
For someone using his time, talent and resources to benefit his department and community, we call the name of Troy A. Menard to receive this Bravo Award.
