Mr. Medina has been with the city for 11 years, serving the last two in the director’s office of Public Works. Those who know him say that he personifies what a dedicated city employee should be.
He began his career in 1995 as a clerk in Solid Waste Management. He served in the Mayor’s Citizens Assistance Office from January 2003 to January 2005. Since then, serving as assistant to the Public Works chief of staff, Mr. Medina is being constantly praised for his commitment to customer service and uncanny ability to resolve citizen and council member inquiries with clarity, promptness and accuracy.
Mr. Medina has been involved with giving something back to his community. Twice a year since 2003, he has volunteered and headed-up large clean-up and repair crews with the Rebuilding Houston Together project. He also volunteers with Lakewood Church, traveling to Honduras as a medical and dental assistant for the past three years. Also volunteering in the Lakewood Outreach ministry, serving food to the homeless. He finds time to serve as co-director of the Youth Ministry at Gethsemane Church, teaching Bible classes and organizing field trips.
The University of Houston Hispanic Business Student Association recognized him in 2001 as their Alumni of the Year. And, in 2004, Mr. Medina graduated from the HPD Citizens’ Police Academy.
