Mary Taylor-Ross is the kind of public servant and involved citizen every community needs

Ms. Taylor-Ross, a 24-year city employee, has earned the praise of
Fort Bend County Constable Ruben Davis for:
Precinct 2 Commissioner Grady Prestage, who appointed Ms. Taylor-Ross to the Fort Bend Mobility Planning Committee, also cited her work as a voting member of the Super Neighborhood 47, a coalition that addresses socio-economic issues in Houston neighborhoods.
In addition, Ms. Taylor-Ross is:
Those are just some of the things she does on ordinary days and nights.
But when the extraordinary challenge of Tropical Storm Allison arose, Ms. Taylor-Ross completed Red Cross training and devoted 16 hours of her vacation time, 20 hours of personal time as well as evenings and weekends to help some of the hardest-hit Houstonians dig out from under the deluge.
She’s also a leader in local politics. She spent 56 hours of her vacation time in field operations with the Democratic National Committee during the 2001 mayoral runoff election. She has served on the host committees of the Texas Conference of Black Mayors and the Black Public Administrators golf tournament. As to her work as a procurement specialist, her supervisor calls her dependable, conscientious, helpful and dedicated. Ms. Taylor-Ross voluntarily works late to get the job done.
Because she’s the kind of public servant and involved citizen every community needs, we present Mary Taylor-Ross with the Bravo Award.
