Mohdudul Huq
Planning
Mohdudul Huq came to the rescue when the Alief Super Neighborhood Council needed some last-minute information for the Bank of America neighborhood grants proposal, wrote Barbara Quattro. Huq got the needed information within a day. Marie Lee also wrote to praise Huq’s prompt response to her request.

Catherine Richards
Police
When Linda Lee moved from Houston to upstate New York, the moving companies lost many of her items. For two months she tried unsuccessfully to get the items back.

Then Officer Catherine Richards called the moving companies. Five days later, the items arrived at Lee’s door, Lee wrote.

“Officer Richards kept me informed of the steps that she was taking and her progress in my case,” Lee wrote, “and she followed up to make sure the goods had arrived.

“Thank you very much.”

Acting State Fire Marshal Patricia Gilbert called Donnie Dennis, Lisa Hayes and Cynthia Hernandez outstanding figures in helping to educate youths on the dangers of starting fires.

Connie Sulewski went to Solid Waste’s Web site in search of the heavy-trash pickup schedule and was impressed with what she saw.

“Your site is quick, utilitarian and no nonsense,” she wrote. “As a professional designer of 20 years, I appreciate the simplicity and straight-forward delivery of information on the site.”

Tom Snook
Police
The woman who moved in next to Richard Duesterberg’s home owned a big dog with a bigger bark. The woman let the dog bark all hours, Duesterberg wrote. Numerous complaints to the woman and the homeowner’s association changed nothing.

So Duesterberg called Sgt. Tom Snook, who responded and explained to the neighbor that the city has an ordinance against barking dogs.

Unfortunately, wrote Duesterberg, the neighbor didn’t take Snook’s warnings seriously. Soon, the barking pierced the night’s silence again.
So Snook wrote the neighbor a citation.

“Shortly after, the barking dog problem was history,” Duesterberg wrote. “Sgt. Snook also ended loud music in the neighborhood. If other officers followed his actions, our neighborhoods would be much more pleasant to live in.”

“Everything was first-class, from the organization at check-in to the venue, from the food to the three workshops I attended,” Edmondson wrote. “I look forward to next year.”

Marcella Orozco
Finance & Administration
Several times in the past year, Stephen Fox’s garbage wasn’t picked up on schedule. Each time, Fox called Marcella Orozco, and every time Orozco would not rest until the garbage was removed, Fox wrote.

“Ms. Orozco has acted with profound professionalism, a sincere devotion and a particular love of her job,” Fox wrote. “You have a gem there.”
