Belva Cardiff’s daughter was in a serious accident in a parking lot near Memorial City Mall. Fortunately, no bones were broken and there were no internal injuries, Cardiff wrote.

“I really appreciate Officer N.C. Sapre’s kindness and compassion,” Cardiff wrote. “He was patient and understanding with my daughter and me. He followed the ambulance to the hospital, took all the information he needed, and explained what we needed to do.

When Allison Cowan left her veterinarian’s office, she discovered her VW Jetta had been smashed in a hit-and-run.

She doesn’t earn much and was concerned about how she’d get the money to pay her $500 deductible and the cost of a rental car, Cowan wrote.

Fortunately, an eyewitness had written down the license plate number and color of the Lexis SUV that had struck Cowan’s car.

After seeing the extensive damage, Officer E.J. Simpson verified that the car tags matched the description and got the phone number of the registered owner of the SUV.

Then, Simpson called the owner and strongly suggested he return to the vet’s parking lot to exchange insurance information, Cowan wrote. The other man heeded that advice.

“Thanks to Officer Simpson, my car was repaired and I had a free rental to drive for the month my car was in the repair shop,” Cowan wrote. “I cannot tell you how grateful I am.”

Esmeralda Garcia
Municipal Courts Judicial
Judge Esmeralda Garcia gave her daughter a second chance, Jenny Knodell wrote.

“It is not often that we come across compassionate and understanding people, and we are so grateful to you for being one of those people,” Knodell wrote. “Now we’re confident Kim will stay on the correct path.”

Garcia also showed leniency to Sonia Acosta.

“I really appreciate it and I won’t let this chance you gave me go to waste,” Acosta wrote.

Garcia helped Acosta see how foolish she was being by getting into trouble.

“Like you said, there are more important things in life, and something so small and worthless is not worth ruining a whole future,” Acosta wrote. “I hope to never again be in your presence unless it is for something good.”
