Adalberto Ramos
Police
During Sandy Bryant’s shock and anguish over her longtime companion’s sudden death, Officer Adalberto Ramos’s kindness stood out.

Ramos was unobtrusive while being comforting, Bryant wrote. He was courteous, compassionate, and patient with her questions while offering comforting suggestions on how to make arrangements for the funeral and how to live without the love of her life.

When Bryant thanked him for his help, Ramos explained that he understood her pain because he’d also lost loved ones.

“Oddly enough, I found it very comforting that a complete stranger could relate to what I was feeling,” Bryant wrote. “Officers Ramos’ kindness will remain with me for many years to come. I was very fortunate that he was assigned to my call.”

Joe Fuentez
Police
Inspector Joe Fuentez is doing exceptional work in their neighborhood, wrote Janice Gabriel, chairwoman of the Mangum Manor Beautification Committee.

When one resident was gravely ill, her yard was trashed. After she died, her caregiver refused to leave the house and claimed that the resident, while on her deathbed, had given her permission to stay as long as she wanted. The trash and garbage in the yard grew, Gabriel wrote.

After a lot of work, Fuentez got the caregiver to leave the house. And then he got the yard cleaned up, Gabriel wrote.

In another case, Fuentez convinced a “slum lord” to make necessary improvements to a house he rented out. The owner had refused to make the changes and insisted the renters pay for the repairs.

“Inspector Fuentez takes care of our neighborhood, and he does it in a timely manner,” Gabriel said. “We appreciate all of his help.”
