Customer Service Excellence

Richard Luna, Glenn Taylor
Public Works & Engineering
A pipe under Janet Elliott’s driveway burst. Because it was a custom-made driveway and the force of the water was so strong, she doubted the driveway would ever be whole again, Elliott wrote.

But Richard Luna and Glenn Taylor put those fears to rest.

“Their hands-on problem-solving skills, their hard work and their strong customer service abilities ensured that my yard and driveway were returned to their original condition,” Elliott wrote. “I thank both of them and their people for such an excellent job.”

Ishah Monroe
Finance & Administration
311 operator Ishah Monroe gave Mary Hollins impeccable service.

“It was such a refreshing experience this morning to have the highly professional and caring service of Mr. Monroe,” Hollins wrote. “He is a valued employee.”

Stefan Skinner

Stefan Skinner solved a crisis, said Michael Williams. “He’s a gentleman and a good person to have working for any company.”

Elizabeth Rodriguez
Human Resources
Robert Crowley was stuck with a bill for more than $1,100 after the insurance company denied his claim for major dental work.

Elizabeth Rodriguez conscientiously investigated the denial claim and sent an appeal to the insurance company on Crowley’s behalf. Soon after, the claim was paid.

“Without Elizabeth’s assistance, I am sure I would never have resolved this claim,” Crowley wrote. “Excellent job.”

Sharla Achain is the voice of courtesy at Pleasantville library,” wrote Bernadine Jennings. “She is a gracious librarian who knows the interior catacombs of the library system, and she’s very good at relating her knowledge.”

Maria Sanchez

With her excellent, prompt services, Maria Sanchez moved Clarice Earls’ court case along quicker and smoother than Earls could have hoped for.

“Ms. Sanchez was always patient and ready with the right answers,” Earls wrote. “Rarely do you come across such a dedicated, knowledgeable and efficient staff member.

“Ms. Sanchez built my confidence. I would not lose an opportunity to recommend Ms. Sanchaz to anyone who wants assistance in the prosecutor’s office.”

Glenn Larry, Leonard Morris
Solid Waste Management
Glenn Larry and Leonard Morris stopped during their route to help Susann Sergent pick up large piles of leaves in her front yard, Sergent wrote. Unbeknownst to them, Sergent has a chronic health condition that limits her endurance.

“They did this voluntarily and very cheerfully, and I was delighted and very grateful for their help,” she wrote. “They have no way of knowing about my health problem, but they are just very kind and considerate men.

“I have noticed them performing such acts of kindness for others in my neighborhood, too.”

Chris Broussard, Elizabeth Jackson, Lee Stanfield
Public Works & Engineering
Elizabeth Jackson and Lee Stanfield spent three hours draining Johnson Benjamin’s neighborhood after it flooded during a heavy rain. Then Stanfield tracked the cause of the flooding, Benjamin wrote. Stanfield said he’d have his supervisor meet with community members the next Monday.

That Saturday, the rains hit again. This time, the waters passed the sidewalks and rushed into people’s yards, Benjamin wrote.

On Monday, Stanfield, Chris Broussard and Harris County Flood Control members evaluated the problem and talked to community members. No one knew whether drainage ditch maintenance belonged to Houston or Harris County. But two days later, a city work crew vacuumed and cleaned the sewers.

“Mr. Stanfield is a great asset to his department because he can solve many neighborhood problems with his expertise, concern and dedication,” Benjamin wrote.
