Jason Holoubek
Planning & Development
Jason Holoubek skillfully presented planning and development information and fielded dozens of difficult questions at a Lancaster Place Civic Association meeting, wrote Kipp Miller.
“In addition, I’ve called Jason numerous times, and in each instance found him to be extraordinarily helpful and patient,” Miller wrote.
Roland De La Cerda, Olga Valdez
Convention & Entertainment Facilities
“I hope you hang this letter in your office for those days when you think nobody sees your hard work,” Kim Kendrick wrote to Roland De La Cerda. “If you think you are not appreciated, please take a glance at this because you are.”

Earlier that day, as she was leaving Westgate Mall, Kendrick saw Olga Valdez also hard at work.
“You all are doing a great job for the city,” Kendrick wrote.
Shirley Glover
Human Resources
Shirley Glover contributed to the tremendous success of the fourth annual YouthRules! Rally, Job, and Career Fair, wrote the fair committee.
More than 2,000 students and parents attended the fair, which increases awareness of federal and state rules regarding young workers and promotes work experiences that help prepare youngsters to enter the workforce.
“The rally’s success was due in large part to the assistance and cooperation you provided,” the committee wrote. “We thank you for helping to make a difference in the future of our area’s youth.”
D.C. Breaux
Police
Margaret Ellis
Municipal Courts Administration
When he gave her a speeding ticket, Officer D.C. Breaux was “so nice that he made the whole experience a positive one,” wrote Isolda Griffiths. “He even made me think about the importance of slowing down in life in general.”
But Griffiths was going through a lot in her life and forgot to take the defensive driving course and to appear in court.
When she remembered the ticket, Griffiths called 311 and was told her only option was to pay the ticket and have it on her driving record. When she went to municipal courts to pay the ticket, she was lucky Margaret Ellis was her cashier, Griffiths wrote.
Ellis went out of her way to explain to Griffiths that she could still get an extension and take the defensive driving class. In great detail, she explained what Griffiths needed to do.
“I was impressed by her excellent predisposition to help and by her kindness,” Griffiths wrote.
D.P. Garcia
Police
“Officer D.P. Garcia is my hero,” wrote Ken Olive.
By the time Olive arrived at his mother’s apartment, the paramedics had placed her on her bed and covered her with a blanket. Garcia was the only person still in the room.
“Officer Garcia was efficient and one of the kindest, most gentle persons I have ever met,” Olive wrote. When he was finished gathering information, Garcia sat with the family and comforted them until the funeral home took the body.
“He made my daughter, my wife and me feel very special and like it was his job to take care of us,” Olive wrote.
