Good Samaritans

H. Clayton, D. Lathan
Police
Officers H. Clayton and D. Lathan helped Jackie Jeruss change her flat tire, Jeruss said.

“I’m a Chicago resident temporarily practicing medicine at M.D. Anderson Hospital, and their respectful, caring hospitality overwhelmed me,” she said.

David Fowler
Police
Ken Pagano and his wife were traveling east on FM 1960 when their pickup blew a tire. They were unable to get the spare dropped from under the truck, so they called police for assistance.

Within minutes, David Fowler arrived. He got the tire dropped and changed it.

“After he finished changing it, I offered him money, but he refused it,” Pagano wrote. “We certainly appreciate his courtesy.”

Patrick Stevens, Eric Simpson
Police
When Gale Wiley ran out of gas on Waugh near West Gray, officers Eric Simpson and Patrick Stevens cut short their lunch break to help. Simpson drove to a gas station, bought a can and gas, and brought the canister back to Wiley.

“I want to thank these officers, but also thank the Houston police force for the many acts of kindness they do each day – all without fanfare or publicity,” she wrote.

Teresa Curry, Cindy Deanda-Wright
Police
After hearing about the death of Tommy Duncan’s wife of 45 years, Sgt. Teresa Curry and Officer Cindy Deanda-Wright came to his house to offer condolences and barbecue for the family, Duncan wrote.

“It really makes you feel good knowing that our police department has officers who care enough to go that extra mile,” Duncan wrote. “These two angels have come by from time to time to check on me and ask if there is anything they can do for me. This really makes me proud of my police department and my city.”
