Good Job

Michael Phelps
Public Works & Engineering
Thanks to Michael Phelps, buying a piece of property from the city couldn’t have been easier, Brad Long wrote.

“Mr. Phelps worked patiently with us, keeping us informed and up-to-date with his progress reports, and he was always responsive,” Long wrote. “It was a pleasure to work with him. Our city is fortunate to have such a quality person on its staff.”

Lloyd Anderson, Nicole Carter, Marques Walker
Police
When Rosemary Wells’ son, Ken, a paranoid schizophrenic, disappeared, she and her husband called police.

Officer Nicole Carter was wonderful in getting information while helping her remain calm, Wells wrote. Then Officer Marques Walker went above and beyond the call of duty to find Ken Wells and take him to an emergency neuropsychiatric center. Officer Lloyd Anderson also helped in the search.

“If it wasn’t for you police, with all you go through and put up with, I don’t know what I would have done,” Wells wrote. “These days, the police are cut down and bashed just for doing their job. Well, this is one grateful lady. Not just for the help with my son, but for everything you do.”

Gustavia Garrett
Library
Lisa Wallace needed several copies of a novel for her book club, so she called the Smith Neighborhood Library. Gustavia Garrett helped her navigate the Web site, and was especially helpful when she came to pick up the books, Wallace wrote.

“She is a valuable asset to my branch and very knowledgeable about the library system,” Wallace wrote. “Great job, Ms. Garrett.”

Karen Coleman
Public Works & Engineering
Karen Coleman was extremely helpful, kind and professional,” said J.F. Delaney. “I’m really impressed with the help she gave me.”

Lucilla Chen
Human Resources
Lucilla Chen was invaluable in cutting through the red tape to implement Police’s FY08 pay plan, wrote Capt. Mark Curran. “Our employees greatly appreciate your effort.”

Capt. D. Ready agreed with Curran’s comments. Her help saved quite a bit of labor and overtime, he wrote.

“Lucilla deserves a big kudos,” Ready wrote. “I appreciate all the help we received from her.”

Mark Leija, Carol Trautwein
Police
At El Paso Corp.’s monthly safety meeting, Officers Mark Leija and Carol Trautwein discussed how employees could prevent crime at home.

“Both were knowledgeable, enthusiastic, entertaining, and friendly,” wrote Robin Danson. “Several of our employees commented on how much they enjoyed listening to their advice and having their questions answered. We certainly appreciate them taking the time to make us better informed and aware.”
