Public Service Recognition Week, May 5-11, 2008

Public Service Recognition Week, celebrated the first Monday through Sunday in May since 1985, is a time set aside to better inform Americans about the broad variety of services provided by government.

The week is also an opportunity to show appreciation to public employees at the federal, state, county, and local levels who ensure that our government is the best in the world. Public Service Recognition Week provides governments around the nation the vehicle with which to celebrate, recognize and identify the important contributions that public employees offer to this country. It is a perfect time to emphasize the common bond among federal, state, county, and local levels who ensure that our government is the best in the world.
