| • Rosemary to the rescue. Use 1 teaspoon of rosemary per cup of hot water. Cover and steep for 10 minutes. Strain and sip a cup three times a day.
• Ginger for migraine prevention. Ginger inhibits a substance called thromboxane A2 that prevents the release of substances that make blood vessels dilate. In other words, ginger can help keep blood flowing on an even keel. Grate fresh ginger into juice, munch on Japanese pickled ginger, use fresh or powdered ginger in tea, or nibble on a piece of crystallized ginger candy each day to help keep the headache away.
• Try thyme to relieve a sinus headache. Thyme is strongly antiseptic and a traditional remedy for respiratory infections. Drink a cup of fragrant thyme tea, made by steeping 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried thyme in a cup of boiling water for about 10 minutes. Sip three times a day.
• Add a splash of vinegar to help relieve a stubborn headache. Fold a brown paper lunch bag to a size that will fit on your forehead. Soak the bag in plain white vinegar, lay back, and rest the bag on your forehead. Remove the bag after your headache has faded. |
