Get a flu shot
Flu and its complications cause more than 36,000 deaths in the United States annually. People 65 and older are considered to be high risk for flu complications.
Flu shot facts:
- You cannot get flu from the flu vaccine.
- Flu shots are 70 - 90 percent effective in preventing illness.
- If you get the flu despite having a flu shot, you will have a milder case with fewer complications.
- The more people who are immunized, the more we are all protected.
Physicians are stocking up on flu vaccine, and Texas HealthSpring is scheduling flu clinics at convenient Houston and surrounding service area locations beginning in early October.
