Q: "My wife and I will move to Arizona in April. We are covered by TexanPlus and Texas HealthSpring Medicare Advantage plans. What are our options for medical coverage in Arizona?"

A: "You have two options for city-sponsored health-care coverage in Arizona. One option is the Aetna Fee-for-Service Medicare Advantage plan available in all 50 states. Most medical services are provided for fixed copayments.

The second option is the BlueCross BlueShield PPO plan that also provides medical coverage in all 50 states. Services are provided for coinsurance after a deductible or copayments. Some preventive services do not require a patient copayment or a coinsurance. Below is a limited comparison of several features and benefits in the two plans."

Q: "How do I know which doctors I can see in the Aetna Fee-for-Service plan? Is there a list of network doctors?"

A: "You can go to any doctor who accepts Medicare and agrees to the Aetna Fee-for-Service Medicare Advantage plan terms and conditions.
Providers do not need to sign a written contract. They only need to agree to participate in Aetna’s plan. If you have selected a doctor, ask if they accept Medicare and Aetna’s Fee-for-Service Medicare Advantage plan. If your doctor is unfamiliar with this plan, there are three requirements for doctors to participate:

  • They must accept Medicare.
  • They must agree to Aetna Fee-for-Service Medicare Advantage plan terms and conditions.
  • They must provide services covered under the plan.

For more information, they should call Aetna, (800) 624-0756, or go to
www.aetna.com and click on For Healthcare Professionals.
