Houston Roller Derby, Arabia Shrine Temple:
Sure, we’ve got a new soccer team and the Astros are looking to repeat as National League champions. But the up-and-coming sport is all-female roller derby, a loud, raucous, rock and roll version of WWE on skates. Houston Roller Derby consists of four teams with 10-15 women each. The matches are a series of high-impact races between two teams of five players. Three blockers try to stop the other team’s jammer, who is the only player who can score, while propelling their own jammer forward. Visit
www.houstonrollerderby.com for more informaton.
