NEW THURSDAY NIGHT CONCERT SERIES BEGINS TODAY AT JONES PLAZA
Gary P. Nunn plays first in free summertime lineup in downtown Houston; Tejano, Latin gigs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays continue through July
July 10, 2003 -- A new summer concert series will be rolled out tonight at Jones Plaza in the heart of Houston's downtown Theater District. Admission is free.
The series, known as the Thirsty Thursday Block Party, will run weekly through August 21. It will be promoted be three Cox Radio affiliates in Houston: KKBQ-FM (The New 93Q), KTHT-FM (Country Legends 97.1) and KHPT-FM (1069 The Point).
Veteran Texan musician Gary P. Nunn will be the headliner for tonight's first show. Boogie band Stoney LaRue will be the opening act. Music begins at 5:30 p.m. and runs until 9:30.
Upcoming acts in the series include Owen Temple, Dub Miller, Perfect Stranger, Derryl Dodd and Cooder Graw. All artists are subject to change. Visit the radio stations' Web sites for the latest information.
In addition to the new Thursday night offerings, the highly popular Tejano Night on Tuesdays and Latin Rumba Night on Wednesdays will continue through July. Event information is available online at www.tejanoaccess.com and www.latinoaccess.com.
