Kellie Pickler first gained fame in the fifth season of American Idol. She has gone on to release four critically acclaimed albums, including her Gold-certified debut “Small Town Girl” as well as “100 Proof.” Among her best-known hits are the Gold-certified “Red High Heels,” “I Wonder,” “Best Days of Your Life,” “Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful,” and “Things That Never Cross a Man’s Mind.” Kellie has also found a place in the world of television after she and her partner, Derek Hough, were declared the winners of the 16th season of Dancing with the Stars.  Her newest hit, Pickler & Ben, is a Nashville based talk show co-hosted by Ben Aaron and co-produced by country superstar, Faith Hill.

Space City Experience:
This year, guests will celebrate more than America’s Freedom at the city’s signature Independence Day event, as this July marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing. CITGO Freedom Over Texas has partnered with NASA’s Johnson Space Center, to bring an exclusive Space City Experience to all patrons at the event featuring its history and what the future holds for intergalactic exploration and travel. The signature area will include an opportunity to be up close and personal with astronauts, robotic demonstrations, virtual reality fieldtrips to the International Space Station, the Space Exploration Vehicle (SEV), NASA’s Destination Station, and other NASA assets and activities.

CITGO Fueling Good Zone & Fireworks Finale:
This popular area will feature opportunities to receive valuable favors, play games or just snag prime seats for a view of the CITGO Main Stage and fireworks finale! Kids of all ages can practice their skills at the baseball toss and tee ball games. Tour the Houston Public Library mobile unit for computer activities, plus, sign up for a library card at story-time.  No matter what you’re doing this summer, playing baseball or reading a book, CITGO will have you Fueling Good!

Walmart All-American Kids Zone:
The Walmart All-American Kids Zone will feature local performances by norteño band Los Luzeros de Rioverde, a contemporary performance and aerialist show celebrating space exploration by Aldine Carver Dance Company, and appearances from your favorite storybook characters and Superheroes. There will be life size games, carnival rides, a rock wall and obstacle course– something for every age.

Bud Light Bayou Beer Garden:
Founding sponsor of 32 years, Bud Light will be toasting Texas and celebrating America’s birthday with fresh brew and beverages this July 4th in their patriotic beer garden.  Allow yourself to be swept away by the music and atmosphere in the relaxing Bud Light beach area, while enjoying a perfect view of the main stage and spectacular fireworks finale. Challenge your friends to giant horseshoes and other activities in the exciting game garden area.

Dr Pepper Zone:
It’s the “So Nice to Treat You”! Time to cool off in the shade with a Dr Pepper float or sample many of the tastings offered in this family-friendly zone! Explore interactive painting with local artists, play ball at the Astros, Dynamo and Rockets booths, take pictures with the Texans cheerleaders, and many more! Don’t miss the incredible live music and dancing offered though out the day at the Dr Pepper Stage. Featured performers include - Fort Sam Hood 323 Division Army Band - “35 to Nowhere” who will play your favorite classic rock hits. Get your Zydeco groove on with Brian Jack and the Zydeco Gamblers. Topping off the evening with her blistering guitar solos will be gritty blues artist, Jackie Venson while enjoying a Dr Pepper float.

Liberty Park:
Liberty Park will feature “Symbols of Freedom” sponsored by US Family Health Plan, as a reminder of the historic roots of July 4th. The five military branches will be represented by Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy and first responders.  They are available to take pictures with military assets. A live cooking demonstration along with fun physical activities.

  • ADA Viewing Area for patrons with special needs, including ramps, will be accessible along Allen Parkway near Eleanor Tinsley Park.
  • Smoking is prohibited in all Houston parks.
  • The Houston Parks & Recreation Department’s regulations prohibit dogs, amphibians, reptiles and snakes that are considered dangerous. Therefore, we require the ban of all such animals. This does not include Seeing Eye dogs or other dogs that aid physically challenged individuals.
