Development and Construction of Affordable Housing
The Land Assemblage Redevelopment Authority ("LARA"), with the support of the City of Houston, is acquiring certain tax delinquent properties to be developed as truly affordable home ownership units.
LARA and the City offer the following Request for Proposals for Affordable Housing Development ("RFP") as described in the attachements listed below. Down payment assistance under the City's Homebuyer Assistance Program may be made available to qualified home buyers to bring monthly payments down to a level where many working families now renting can instead build equity in their homes.
This neighborhood revitalization will be accomplished through the joint efforts of qualified community development corporations and non-profit and for-profit builders. Experienced builders will be asked to bid for particular lots, and selection will be based on criteria heavily weighted toward the quality and value per construction dollar.
