The Empty Shelter Project Hosted By K9 Angels (June 1, 2019)

Providing no-cost spay/neuter opportunities to underserved District H communities and addressing the overpopulation of pets on our streets is a priority and an ongoing commitment for Council Member Cisneros. After hosting The Empty Shelter Project in March of 2019, Council Member Cisneros was able to partner with K9 Angels once again to bring The Empty Shelter Project back to the Denver Harbor Multi-Service Center on June 1, 2019.

The Empty Shelter Project is an initiative to help prevent overpopulation in Houston and Harris County. This event provided services to a record-breaking 503 dogs and cats. All of the following services were provided completely FREE to residents: spay/neuter surgeries, micro-chipping, vaccinations, flea treatment, and nail clipping.

This event was made possible with the hard work of several local veterinarians and vet techs, 30+ pieces of expensive and unique mobile equipment, and dozens of volunteers. Many thanks to: K-9 Angels, Houston Health Department, Houston Parks and Recreation Department, Harris County Constable of Precinct 6 Silvia Trevino, Rescue Bank, Houston PetSet, and other generous philanthropists.
