December 5, 2007 -- More than 200 guests gathered at the George R. Brown Convention Center on December 5 to welcome Greg Ortale as the new president and CEO of the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau. It was a homecoming of sorts for Ortale, who was general manager of the GHCVB from 1979-87 before going to Minnesota to become president and CEO of Minneapolis' visitors bureau. Among those in attendance were, from left, Dawn Ullrich, director of the City's Convention & Entertainment Facilities Department, Ortale, Mayor Bill White and Thomas Jones, board chairman of Houston's CVB.
