Mayor Bill White extends the City's deepest sympathies for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami that have ravaged southern Asia and encourages citizens to help in relief and recovery efforts.
"The loss of life is staggering and our hearts are heavy. Our prayers go out to the victims," said Mayor White. "We know that the survivors urgently need help and we should all do what we can."
To that end, the City is listing below a number of options for those wishing to make contributions for disaster relief.
For example, the India Culture Center of Greater Houston and other local Indo-American organizations have established a Relief Fund at Metro Bank. Checks can be made payable to:
