HOUSTON MAYOR BILL WHITE APPOINTS NEW CHIEF OFFICER FOR SUSTAINABLE GROWTH

Christopher EugsterMarch 1, 2007 -- Mayor Bill White today announced the selection of Cristopher C. Eugster, a former partner at McKinsey & Company, as the Chief Officer for Sustainable Growth for the City of Houston. Eugster will work with key leaders both within city government and across the broader Houston community to drive energy efficiency, optimize our waste disposal capacity, and address environmental challenges in an effort to save taxpayer dollars and foster continued growth for the city. A former engineer and management consultant, Eugster has counseled many senior executives of Fortune 500 companies, investment firms and entrepreneurs on strategic, organizational and operational transformation.

"Cris Eugster is the person to direct our efforts to make Houston a leader in alternative energy use," said Mayor White. "The benefits will make Houston more attractive to businesses considering a move to our city."

Eugster has strong business and technology expertise with nearly fourteen years of experience in solving difficult issues for clients in the technology, energy, waste, and logistics sectors.

Eugster earned a B.S. from Texas A&M University in electrical engineering and received his M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology graduating in 1993. He has received numerous honors and awards for technical achievement and entrepreneurship. He has numerous publications on technical and business subjects and holds two patents.

Eugster is an active member in the Houston community. He is married with two children.
