STATEMENT FROM MAYOR BILL WHITE ON CONTINENTAL AIRLINE'S ACCESS TO LONDON HEATHROW AIRPORT

March 22, 2007 -- Houston Mayor Bill White today welcomed the announcement by Continental Airlines that they will provide flights to London's Heathrow Airport for the first time, following approval of an open skies agreement between the United States and the European Union.

"We applaud Continental's continued commitment to the City of Houston, " said Mayor White. "This adds to Houston's impressive connections to the rest of the world and helps us keep pace as a key segment of the global marketplace. And that's another of the reasons Houston remains a great place to do business and continues to create jobs at a record pace."

The Houston Airport System ranks No. 2 among major U.S. cities in the number of non-stop flights to international destinations (73).

HAS served 51 million passengers in 2006. It is the 4th-largest multi-airport system in the U.S. and the 6th-largest in the world.
