MAYOR BILL WHITE'S URGES HOUSTONIANS TO VOTE FOR CARLOS!

July 9, 2008 -- Mayor Bill White today encouraged Houstonians to cast a vote for Houston Astros standout Carlos Lee to be added to next week's Major League Baseball All Star game roster. Lee is 2 nd in the league in RBI's with 72* and is among the National League's top ten leaders in the categories of hits (101)*, home runs (21)* and slugging percentage (.551)*.

"Carlos Lee is a fan favorite and is one of the games top performers," said Mayor White. "I encourage Astros fans to support 'El Caballo's' bid to join the game's best for the summer classic."

Astros fans can cast a vote by logging on to Astros.com and click "vote now". Fans have until 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 10 to vote. Lee narrowly trails the Milwaukee Brewers' Corey Hart in the vote, but leads Hart in the combined score producing categories of "runs scored" and "runs batted in".
