August 3, 2012 -- Houston Mayor Annise Parker today released the following statement in response to the proposal agreed upon by METRO board members regarding General Mobility Funds:
"It is clear residents in the METRO service area support both improved roads as well as improved transit. I do too. While I would have preferred to shift more money to transit, this proposal, if approved by the voters, would maintain a balance.
The process to get to this point was transparent and inclusive. It worked well, and I thank the METRO board for its diligence in ensuring all stakeholders had the opportunity to be heard. Now it is up to the voters."
